About Harpal...

My journey to Kundalini Yoga has been quite an exploration.
In the past I have practiced Hatha Yoga, this was one of the first yogas
I tried out, and then went on to exploring Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga - this I
still explore from time-to-time.  But during this period of tasting various
forms, there was still something missing.  My whole being kept on yearning
for a complete self help tool.  Something that addressed body, mind and spirit*.
Due to chronic stress and strain during the early years of my life, this being
the result of several shocking circumstances occurring in a short period of time -
Hatha or Ashtanga were not addressing or even coming near to
    touching  my needs.
Although they are wonderful practices in their own right.  This does
not mean Kundalini Yoga is for stresses and strains only - many people
    have this misconception.
Just imagine if it can bring you out of the depths of stress, then a
person who has never come across stress, where can it take them?  To
    the depths of inner creativity.

Then one day, my eldest sister, who has her own extraordinary story about
her  own journey to Kundalini Yoga, gave me details of a class she had
  replied to in the newspaper.
I left a message on the answering machine - querying about these classes.
I recall vividly, I had a call the day after.  She sounded American - it turns out,
she was American, and one of the first things I recall her telling me was,
“I have been looking to meet another Harpal for the past 10 years, and here
  you are,”
My teacher's Spiritual name is also Harpal (the meaning of which is nurturing
the universe - either through learning or teaching, or both).

My yearning took 10 years for Kundalini Yoga to come into my life.  I
have never come across such a profound tool - which does not hide or
cover anything, but instead gives you everything.

After attending classes for a year - I applied to Karam Kriya to do
the Teacher Training and I began to teach in 2003.  What Kundalini Yoga
has done for me in  the past years - no other tool has accelerated this for me in
  the past 10 - 15 years.
It has given me to me, and it continues to do this in more ways then I
  could have ever imagined.
